Our story began when a charming Mexican guy met an adventurous South African girl—me—while we were both working in the Cayman Islands. When COVID hit and we lost our jobs, we thought, why not move to Mexico since it was just a hop away?
We started traveling around Mexico and sharing our adventures on YouTube, even though we had no clue what we were doing back then. Fast forward four years—now we’re married, and I’ve got my Permanent Mexican Residency! What began as a fun adventure has turned into For The Road, an online business that inspires others to dive deep into Mexico. With our cameras and passion for storytelling, we’re here to bust myths and show off the real, vibrant Mexico.
Hola I'm Geovanny,
a Mexican native with strong Mayan roots 🇲🇽 I was born and raised in the city of Merida, Mexico, and moved to Playa del Carmen when I was 15. With a passion for travel and the ambition of living abroad, I studied hospitality and worked at incredible hotels in the Riviera Maya.
This eventually led me to a job in the Cayman Islands, where I met Simone. When our circumstances changed suddenly, we decided to move to Playa del Carmen – and I’m so glad we did! Sharing my home and culture with Simone has only made me more proud & grateful to be Mexican 🙏

and I grew up in the busy city of Joburg, South Africa 🇿🇦 With the goal of living abroad, I studied hospitality. All that intention-setting and my dreams of travel began a week after graduation. Four years later, I got a job in the Cayman Islands (another dream come true). And that’s where I met Geovanny.
I had never imagined living in Mexico, but another four years later, I’m so glad everything worked out this way. While adjusting to the culture and learning the language has been far from easy, I’m so grateful for how Mexico Lindo Y Quierido has shaped me into who I am today 🥹

As residents of Mexico, we knew this narrative was far from the truth. Determined to challenge these misconceptions, we decided to fully dedicate our time & energy to creating a YouTube channel. And recently this blog!
